How loud is the street behind that house? Do you think the nearby airport is an issue? I hear that’s a popular restaurant, do they stay open late?
Almost all homes are searched online before you ever visit in person. Satellite imagery allows us to get a real understanding of how a home is situated within a neighborhood, but what about noise? Well now there is a way to gauge the noise surrounding a particular property before you ever visit. HowLoud.com is an L.A, based company that is in the business of mapping the sounds around specific locations.
For example, I typed in the location of my office in El Dorado Hills. In an instant you get a Soundscore which accounts for noise coming from traffic, airports, and local sources. On a scale of 50 – 100, our office ranks as a 69 with busy traffic and local sources, and mostly calm airport noise. This is a great way to find out if a certain location may be noisier than you might like before actually making the drive to check it out.
