I love my Dad – but he is far from easy. Everything I learned about the world began with my Dad. “The world isn’t fair – stand up for yourself – don’t make excuses – could you have done better?” I can’t tell you how many times I just didn’t want to listen. I didn’t want to hear my Dad’s truth. It seemed so harsh and unforgiving. I was blessed with two loving parents, and each played their role. My dad played his well.
Now that my Dad is older he is more of a teddy bear. He loves his grand kids and enjoys spoiling them. I often ask my self who is this man? This is certainly not the man I grew up with! Today his health is failing. It’s hard to see my Dad this way but I Thank God for all of the lessons that he taught me.
